Analogic Security engaged Made By Makers to support their development of a checked-luggage system. They wanted the system to aesthetically mimic their existing ConneCT system used for carry-on luggage, to improve serviceability and keep mechanical changes to a minimum.

Our role

We were given a mechanical package as well as the range of manufacturing processes and materials to use. Within these limits we were asked to develop proposals for an enclosure meeting their requirements

Process

Together with Analogic stakeholders we created a range of possible options searching for the right amount of manufacturing complexity and product line connection.

In Made By Makers, we have partnered with a team that strengthens and refines product development through practical, functional design thinking. They work with a very proactive approach that helps maintain steady progress and consistently high-quality output, translating technical requirements into well-resolved solutions all while operating within tight design and mechanical constraints.

- Steve Weed, VP of Engineering, Imaging and Detection Systems

Result

We ended with a design that by changing a few key components and applying a distinct colour way achieved a much stronger visual connection between the two systems, made serviceability easier while adhering to the given mechanical package and manufacturing processes.

The RUBICON series is a cohesive product family of high-performance loudspeakers spanning from compact stand-mounts to powerful floorstanders and elegant wall-mounted solutions. We helped DALI establish a timeless, minimalist design language that fits seamlessly into modern residential spaces, and to design a cabinet architecture capable of housing advanced acoustic technologies without looking bulky or intrusive.

Our role

We approached the project from a holistic design perspective, treating the entire RUBICON range as a family of premium architectural objects and focused on creating a shared, scalable product architecture. We balanced the requirements of internal cabinet volumes with a clean, sophisticated exterior aesthetic, ensuring that each model - whether passive or active - retained a consistent visual DNA and high-end tactile quality.

Process

Through iterative design loops, we optimized the structural form language across the series. This included designing clean cabinet lines and a robust, multi-layer front baffle that serves as a solid physical and visual anchor for the drivers. We integrated DALI’s technical innovations - such as the patented Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) driver systems and signature reddish wood fibre cones - ensuring these functional elements became iconic visual highlights of the series' identity, beautifully contrasted by premium cabinet finishes like real wood veneers and deep high-gloss lacquers.

Result

The outcome is the RUBICON series - a versatile, high-end loudspeaker family that strikes a balance between expressive acoustic performance and subtle home integration. With its wide-dispersion capabilities and cohesive design language, the series redefines the premium audio segment. The final product range delivers a commanding soundstage from a timeless, minimalist silhouette, ensuring both aesthetic longevity and broad applicability across different modern living environments.

Client

DALI (Danish Audiophile Loudspeaker Industries) is an internationally acclaimed pioneer in premium audio, celebrated for making high-fidelity sound an authentic, emotionally engaging experience. ABB is a global leader in electrification, providing high-quality sockets, switches, and wiring accessories for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. Known for combining safety, reliability, and modern design, ABB delivers solutions used in projects around the world.

The carefully designed switch system combines clear geometry with subtle softness - a successful combination of functionality and aesthetics. Thanks to a sophisticated color palette and a focus on sustainability, the VEGA and ALTER VEGA series can be adapted to many architectural contexts. This outstanding design shows that small details can make a big difference.

- Statement by the IF Jury

Challenge

ABB Niessen aimed to develop a new series of switches and sockets with a clear, modern design direction, while staying rooted in the archetypal rocker switch as a core design principle.

Our role

We developed two design directions within a shared system: Vega and Alter Vega. The focus was to create a flexible product family combining simplicity, high quality, and a balance between subtle integration and more expressive character.

Process

The process was driven by extensive research into user contexts, trends in materials and movements in the global society. These insights were translated into tangible and actionable design principles and refined through iterative design loops, resulting in a coherent form language and a complete CMF specification.

Result

The outcome is a versatile product series with two distinct expressions built on a shared platform. The range combines timeless design, functional clarity, and a CMF strategy that supports longevity and broad applicability across different environments.
