Hyperfine is a health technology company that develops portable, low-field MRI systems for brain imaging. The company’s Swoop™ system enables brain scans to be performed at the point of care outside traditional radiology settings. It combines MRI technology and AI software to improve access to neuroimaging and support faster clinical decision-making.
Our process started with the planning and conducting a field research study across multiple sites in the US to understand the needs, challenges and experiences of both patients and operators using the system. For the next step we consolidated the findings into an opportunity document, identifying key areas for improvement. We then selected the most relevant opportunities and translated them into a series of design concepts. They were developed iteratively by moving between quick physical cardboard mock-ups and detailed CAD models to explore both the overall product experience and individual features.
The process resulted in a set of design opportunities aimed at creating a more integrated and coherent aesthetic while strengthening the user experience for both patients and operators.
