Fidabio has developed an analytical platform that enables faster and more accurate characterization of molecules and nanoparticles. It utilizes Flow Induced Dispersion Analysis (FIDA): a microfluidic techniqueused to measure the absolute size, interactions, and stability of biomolecules.
Challenge
Fidabio faced a two-fold challenge: the need for an on-brand refresh of an existing autosampler platform, and the integration of a new, external optical detector module.
Our role
We were tasked with creating a new form language that fits the Fidabio brand, translating it into a production-ready redesign of the autosampler's outer casing and a complementary design for the detector.
Process
Working closely with Fidabio and its production partner, we developed and visualized design concepts for the new and existing hardware, utilizing primarily sheet metal and select 3D-printed parts. We then supported the team throughout the prototyping phase, iteratively evaluating and refining the design.
Result
The resulting products were the Fida Neo and its companion optical detector. Beyond introducing an interchangeable, stackable detector unit, we elevated the entire platform with a cohesive new design identity.At its heart is the "Fida Eye": a signature status light that provides a striking visual focal point against an otherwise minimalist aesthetic. The design delivered a distinct, competitive edge, securing a powerful market presence for Fidabio.
