Niessen approached us with the task of creating a coherent system of switches and outlets. Together, we embarked on a design journey to explore how we could rethink the traditional layout and transform it into a new aesthetic expression, while maintaining backward compatibility with existing electrical components. We developed a modular system in which the frame serves as a common element, allowing different rockers and outlets to be combined freely. Function and form are reduced to their essential qualities, pursuing a notion of “basic” as a conscious and refined position rather than a limitation.
